Just like the nucleus in a natural pearl determines the quality of the pearl, as with these quality glass pearls, the core is what determines the finished pearl.

Madreperla pearls are made with a special opaline glass set on a revolving wire thread and then covered with layers and layers of enamel to simulate a real pearl and give them the characteristic colour and luminosity. The pearl is immersed in this enamel at different times to give different coats to the pearl, imitating the process of the pearl oyster and is subjected to a rigorous selection procedure and quality control before being strung.
