| Sydney - From Settlement to the Bridge - a Pictorial History - A Book by Ian Collis
Sydney: From Settlement to the Bridge, a Pictorial History is a celebration of Sydney's past in both photos and drawings. Many of the photos in the book have never been published before.
The images are divided into broad themes that often overlap and are not necessarily in chronological order. They start with settlement, then expansion, buildings, transport, people and pastimes, harbour and waterways, federation and finish with the construction and opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932.
The Bridge's opening was celebrated as one of the world's greatest engineering feats and was a crowing glory for Sydney. At the back of the book there is also a colour selection of just some of the souvenirs and mementos of the opening.
This book brings to life those bygone eras of Sydney in beautiful, clear black and white images that represent a snapshot of the city and its people.
