      The button on top is the power on and off button. The actual camera is above the clip that clips onto your pocket. There are two little holes at the back of the pen, the top one is the one that shows the yellow light and the blue light. The bottom one is the reset hole.When you press the power button for 3 seconds the yellow light comes on then the blue. Blue is recording, yellow is standby.When all else fails push a paperclip into bottom button and it will reset.

    you do not mention the replacement pen cartridge. Is it a standard type and readily available? If so what is it?
    It is no use if you wish to use it as a pen, in a meeting, and it runs out and you cannot replace it.
