Acer's Australian operations commenced in 1990, and they have since cemented their place as one of the leading providers of computing equipment in Australia, especially in the Notebook and Tablet PC sectors. Acer has also been the leading supplier for the Australian Government and Education sectors.

Acer is currently a major sponsor of the Scuderia Ferrari F1 Racing Team, and has the naming rights to Acer Arena, home to the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
