Adidas is a major German-based sports apparel manufacturer and parent company of the Adidas Group, which consists of the Reebok, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company and Rockport. Besides sports footwear, the company today also produces other products such as sports bags, t-shirts, sports watches, sunglasses, fragrances and other sports and clothing-related goods.

Founded in Germany in 1924 by two bothers Adi and Rudolf Dassler, Adidas was first named Dassler shoes. The company was registered as Adidias 1949. In that same year Rudolf Dassler left the company to establish his own company, naming it Puma. Once Rudolf left his brother came up with the three stripes logo that Adidas is famous for.

Today, Adidas is largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second biggest sportswear manufacturer in the world, after its U.S. rival Nike.
