Braun GmbH is a German consumer products company.

Founded by Max Braun, an engineer who established a shop in 1921, the company’s core business began manufacturing radio parts. After much success the company then started building entire radios sets in 1929. This development continued with the launch of one of the first combined radio and record players in 1932.

The Braun brand as we know it was first introduced in 1936. The product that Braun is most known for today, the electric shaver was introduced in the 1950s. Today, Braun manufactures a wide range of consumer goods including shaving and grooming products, Oral Care (now under the Oral-B brand), beauty products, health and wellness goods and a large range of home appliances.

From 1984 through 2005, Braun was a wholly owned subsidiary of The Gillette Company. Braun is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, which acquired Gillette in 2005.
