Bundaberg Rum

Bundaberg Rum

The town of Bundaberg in Queensland, Australia enjoyed a surge of economic growth in the 1880s in the sugar cane business. With this growth came the problem of what to do with the by-product of molasses after the sugar was extracted. The farmers knew it could be converted into rum and little distilleries cropped up all over Queensland.

In 1888, some of these distilleries joined forces to form the Bundaberg Distilling Company.

110 years later, Bundaberg Rum has gained recognition as one of Australia's famous Aussie spirits.

In 1986 the Bundaberg Distilling Company appointed its first tour guide for showing visitors around the distillery.
