Established in 1911 in Italy, FILA started making clothing for the inhabitants of the Italian Alps.

Fila made its debut as an elite performance brand in 1973. In the 1980s the brand captured the loyalties of the individual athlete and the sportswear industry - cementing its place as a global leader in sportswear.

Inherent in its arrival as global brand was FILA's love affair with tennis, dominating the scene in all aspects, including a 22-year sponsorship of the U.S. Open. In the following years Fila added the Stella Artois Championships, to its existing tennis event sponsorships of the Sony Ericsson Open, Pacific Life Open, Campbell's Hall of Fame Championships and Italian Open.

In April 2007, Fila became a part of Global Leading Brands House: a global fashion group which creates and develops the world class high-end fashion brands. Fila & GLBH continued the brand's dedication to the sport so entrenched in its heritage with the signing of WTA Tour rising star, Agnes Szavay.

Today FILA is the world's elite Italian sports brand with a range of products including sportswear, sports watches, accessories and high performance shoes.
