Jamo began in 1968 in a remote fishing village in Denmark with one man’s passion for great sound. Preben Jacobsen had started designing and producing speaker cabinets, then adding to them the best acoustic technology available at the time.

The name comes from the surnames of the founding partners – Jacobsen and his brother-in-law Julius Mortensen, who provided sales experience, albeit from the fishing industry.

With their vision and pioneering spirit propelling the company, by 1994 Jamo had become the largest producer of quality speakers in Europe, and is today known for its state-of-the-art speakers with over 40 years of heritage.
