Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer; head designer for Marc Jacobs and current creative director for the French haute couture fashion house Louis Vuitton.

In 1986 Marc Jacobs designed his first collection under the Marc Jacobs label. Following the collection, Jacobs received The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent - a highly regarded award in the fashion industry.

With business partner Robert Duffy, Jacobs launched their own licensing and design company: Marc Jacobs International Company, L.P. Following the success of Marc Jacobs, Jacobs introduced the secondary line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, in 2001. From then he has gone on to win seven CFDA awards including Womenswear Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year and Menswear designer of the year.

In recent years, the Marc Jacobs brand has increased the number of boutiques and multi-brand stores. While the ready-to-wear and accessory collections including the Marc Jacobs sunglasses range are widely available at leading department stores around the globe.
