Ray-Ban was founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb (an American company based in Rochester, New York). The first pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses was originally created on request from a Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps to help protect his eyes from damage caused by sun glare.

Bausch & Lomb came up with a pair of elegant sunglasses, with a prototype frame known as anti-glare. Pilots in the United States Army Air Corps immediately adopted the sunglasses.

For over 70 years now Ray-Ban have been a most popular choice of sunglasses with celebrities, sport stars, and have made countless appreance in iconic movies. Including the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, and how can we forgot Tom Cruise as Maverick wearing Ray Ban Aviators in Top Gun.

The Ray-Ban range today includes seven main lines in their sunglasses collection. These are Families, Icons, Active lifestyle, High street, Fast and furious, Tech, and Craft. Included in the lines are the ever popular Ray-ban Wayfarers and Aviators sunglasses.
