Sheridan has always been deeply rooted in the development of the Australian textile industry.

The 1940s saw the birth of the Australian Cotton Textile Industries Limited (ACTIL) in South Australia. ACTIL is the very first textile company to produce Australian made sheets and pillowcases.

Two decades later in 1963 the brand name Sheridan was born, registered for the first time as a manufacturer of home textiles. By the end of the 1960s Sheridan was known in Australia as the new brand name for homewares. During the following years Sheridan advances, increasing its global presence with international stores opening.

In recent years (2005) Sheridan was acquired by Pacific Brands. Pacific Brands is Australia's leading manager of consumer products and markets some of the most recognised brands including Berlei, Bonds, Holeproof, King Gee, Slazenger, Sleepmaker, Tontine and now Sheridan.
