The Woodworm story started in 2002, after Joe Sillet had just been drafted in to play for his village 2nd XI. Having not played in a few years, he started to hunt in the garage for his bat, only to find it had a bad case of woodworm. He repaired the damage, carving the worst of the damage from the top of the bat, and forming those now distinctive grooves. Joe went on to score a century in that game, and it was at that point the Woodworm Cricket Company was born.

The company was a huge hit. In its first year of trading, the company sold just 200 bats. Two years later in 2005, this was over 15,000 bats globally, sponsoring global superstars such as Brett Lee, Freddie Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen and Sanath Jayusaria, to name but a few.

In 2007, the company branched out into golf, sponsoring legend Ernie Els. By applying the same care and attention to their golf range as they did to their cricket equipment, it too was a phenomenal success, with the company struggling to keep up with demand.

In 2008, Woodworm was purchased by Sports PLC, who released a stunning new range for 2009 that achieved tremendous praise from the press and players alike.

Today, Woodworm's manufacturing principles are clear - to produce high performance sporting goods with cutting edge design and technology, backed with a flair for design.

In 2009, Sports PLC signed an exclusive agreement with oo.com.au to distribute Woodworm golf and cricket equipment across Australia and New Zealand.
