Zippo was founded in Bradford, Pennsylvania in 1932 by George G. Blaisdell. This iconic brand became extremely popular with American soldiers during World War II, when the company dedicated all manufacturing to the US military.

Zippos gained popularity for being able to stay lit in harsh conditions due to their design and fuel delivery. Case designs are several and varied, but the core mechanism has basically remained the same since their inception.

Well over 400 million Zippos have been produced, and over 20% of owners are collectors of the product.
